What is a Sports Arena?
A sports arena is a location that offers community members the opportunity to participate in sports, recreational activities, and special events. Such arenas typically offer a wide variety of activities, but some specialize in two or three. These arenas are created through both public and private enterprises. The wide variety of activities is matched by the wide variations in size and shapes of facilities. Each facility has the objective of providing a quality operation that is fun and offers a safe environment for fitness, sport, recreation and entertainment. Below are examples of some of the program offerings at your local sports arena.
Arena soccer, also commonly referred to as "indoor soccer" is played on both artifical turf, in-fill turf and court style facilities. Leagues, tournaments and special events are often offered year around for both youth and adults. Many facilities offer education programs, academies, enhancement programs, clinic and camps that offer even more to the soccer players. Studies show that arena soccer is an excellent cross training opportunity for outdoor soccer players and also offers its own unique brand of soccer.
Roller hockey, once a training alternative to ice hockey has continued to gain popularity as a sport in and of itself. Roller Hockey Sport programs offer not only league, but many other opportunitiest to get acquainted with the sport through camps, clinics and tournaments. The game gives the athlete of all ages an intense and fun workout.
Parties & Special Events
Many Sports Arenas offer a number of services, activities, parties and special events. Events are easy and cost effective to host at our member arenas. Typically most facilities do not have the overhead of a local hotel or meeting hall, the staffing needs are relatively simple and the facilities are set up to safely and effectively support a wide variety of events.
The true American game continues to provide the excellent training and crosstraining opportunities for all athletes. Basketball in a gym is one thing, Basketball in a sports arena is the closest that you can come to the big leagues.
Baseball and softball may be found at many sports arenas across the country. Batting practice and pitching centers are offered at a number of sport arenas. Training, batting and pitching practice are not the only offerings, many operators now provide full leagues, clinics, camps and other opportunites to hone the skills of the athlete you were meant to be.
Baseball / Softball
As a supplement or as your main course of fitness, several sport arenas offer performance enhancement programs that provide the athlete with opportunities to develop speed, improve balance and agility, increase endurance and even measure and monitor the bodies performance with baseline measurements and continued athlete monitoring. Some facilities have a full professional staff with the equipment found in the most modern of gyms, other are very specialized supporting the needs of the facility membership.
Arena flag football is one of the fastest growing sports in indoor arenas. The sport is non-contact and, therefore, does not expose athletes to the common injury challenges of full contact or touch football. Concussion concerns are minimized tremendously in this brand of football. Arena flag football also provides an excellent form of cross training for other football programs. Camps, clinics and other educational and developmental programs also provide for more opportunities to better an athlete.
The popularity of Lacrosse continues to build. The sports arenas provide an excellent venue to build your training program and to play in a fun, safe and controlled environment. Camps, clinics and other training programs provide a great entry point to the sport novice or an opportunity for continued development for the seasoned player.
Badmiton is rapidly growing as a sport arena offering. Recently many such specialized facilities have opened and other arenas are making this sport part of the typical sport menu offerings. Adult and youth programs include leagues, camps, clinics and tournaments.
Indoor rock climbing continues to enjoy popluarity in sports arenas. The sport is well suited and supported through out the country. As interest continues to grow, the opportunity to learn this mentally and physically demanding sport is open and available to all ages & levels for participation and development.
Volleyball played on courts, sand and other surfaces is always a popular sport. Travel teams, recreational teams and the corporate team building event hosts can always find a gym, but the members of The Arena Sports Alliance provide the highest standard for volleyball elite as well as the volleyball novice.
